I wanted to share with you the 5 key areas within your home that, if kept clutter free will save you time & money. We're all up for some of that...right?
Decluttering not only offers the opportunity to create a simple home where everything is organised & your belongings are much easier to manage, it also saves you time & money.
In my experience as a professional home organiser, mum & home owner there are a few key areas that really do benefit from staying organised.
The kitchen, the heart of your home, the space in which you probably spend a good chunk of your time. keeping our kitchens clutter free & organised has many benefits.
If your cupboards are well organised & food is easy to see there will be no more duplicate buying at the supermarket, no more out of date food, no more waste & no more of YOUR time wasted rooting around for ingredients because they are shoved to the back of the cupboard. Your kitchen will be easier to clean & everything nice and accessible, generally making your life much easier.
2.Clothes, massive benefits to be had from an organised wardrobe... no more 'floordrobes' in sight!
Clothes can be a really overwhelming area to tackle when it comes to decluttering, but, once decluttered AND organised can make a huge difference to your daily routine.
Do you spend ages trying to find something to wear? or looking for that item of clothing that 'you know is here somewhere'? Decluttering your wardrobe allows you to see exactly what items of clothing you own, no more rummaging through piles of clothes or storing clothing that you no longer wear or that doesn't fit. Imagine getting up in the morning & dressing in something you have organised the night before or opening your wardrobe & putting your hands on exactly what you'd like to wear that day...... WINNING! Time & money saved.
3. Bedrooms, I believe everyone should have the opportunity to play, sleep & relax in a clutter free space.
All children love to play & create & by having a great system of organisation in your child's bedroom you are setting yourself up for ease when it comes to 'tidy up time'.
Use the 1 in -1 out rule when your child would like a new toy, this helps to avoid the build up of unwanted, no longer played with toys alongside teaching your child valuable life lessons.
No more wasted time moving toys around the room without any direction, no more lost bits & no more duplicate buys just a beautiful functional kids room.
In your bedroom keeping a clear space aids in great nights sleep, allows you to access your items with ease & gives you a great start to your day.
4. Hallway/porch, the first place you set foot into has a big impact on how you feel about your home.
Keeping your entrance clear & organised is key in how you feel about the rest of your house.
Introducing some form of organisation into your hallway is a huge help when it comes to locating items such as keys & shoes, do you regularly shout "where are the car keys"? do the kids hunting for their lost shoes make you run late?..... it doesn't have to be that way.
Having a seasonal system in place also really helps, during the colder months have only winter wear in your hallway coats, gloves, hats etc & during the summer months have to hand sunhat's, sandals etc...... basically only have what you need & pop everything else away. This will save a huge amount of time, especially in the mornings when trying to leave the house.
5.The bathroom, a place to run yourself a lovely bath and relax..... ok so it might not always be very relaxing if you are surrounded by clutter.
The bathroom is probably one of the easiest rooms to declutter, you most likely won't have. any attachment to the items in your bathroom. Empty shampoo bottles can be easily popped into the recycling bin & any toiletries no longer used can be removed freeing up space immediately. If you have several of the same bottles open condense them into one.
Only have on display the toiletries you actually use regularly & question everything else, if you've had items gifted to you that you won't use, don't keep them, donate them or re-gift them. The next time you indulge in a nice bath it will be in a beautifully clear space with the exact items you need to hand...... ENJOY.
Are you ready to start saving yourself time & money? Which room will you choose to declutter first?
