One of the biggest mistakes that many people make is buying more & more storage. Let me tell you that more storage is not the answer, the answer is to own less stuff.
Many of the clients I work with think that actually being able to have less in their homes is impossible.. from experience I can promise you its not!
Before going out & purchasing yet more units, baskets, containers etc you need to declutter, you need to reduce the amount you own.
When decluttering I use a 3 step system: declutter, organise & routine.
First up the decluttering process, getting rid of items that are no longer loved, useful or serving you to create space for those that are, secondly organise your space so that it works for you, your family & your lifestyle & lastly creating a routine to maintain all of your hard work.
Once the decluttering stage is complete you'll be surprised by the fact you have an empty shelf or drawer, lots of empty baskets or containers & overall less stuff! We can then organise your items effectively using your existing storage solutions.
A recent attendee to my online workshop said this.... "Carina's tip of declutter before storage literally blew my head off. How could I declutter when I didn't have the storage right there and waiting for what I wanted to keep and organise? Bit of a waste of time, I thought! So embracing this idea has literally saved me money. My grandchildren's playroom didn't actually need that new 2x2 kallax unit, I thought it needed. My airing cupboard didn't need the 4 extra shelves I thought it needed, none in fact. The shoe/coat cupboard is getting 2 more shelves! The 6 drawer kallax under the stairs now has an empty box"
One of the many benefits of decluttering is saving money, don't buy any more storage until you have spent some time decluttering.
